Is this visa for me?
A UK Spouse Visa, Fiancé(e) or (proposed) Civil Partner visa, allows non-EEA/EU nationals who are (to be) married to a British Citizen or a person settled in the UK, to apply for Leave to Enter or Remain in the UK, with their settled or British partner.
If overseas, those from non-EEA/EU countries should apply for a settlement visa to the British Consulate, Embassy or High Commission in their place of permanent residence. If successful, applicants will be granted an entry clearance, normally valid for at least two and a half years to enter the UK and join their loved one. There is an option to apply for further leave to remain before the end of this period once inside the UK. If you are in the UK on a visa which is valid for more than 6 months, then you may be eligible to apply for a spouse / civil partner without leaving the UK. This is also the case for those who have entered the UK on a Fiancé(e) / Proposed Civil Partner who have married their partner within their period of leave and who intend to reside permanently in the UK.
